Why Get Your Volkswagen Valves Cleaned?
Volkswagen’s direct-injection engines, from the 1.8 and 2.0 TSI in the Golf, GTI, Jetta and Tiguan to the 3.6 VR6 in the Atlas and Touareg, inject fuel straight into the cylinder. Without fuel washing over them, the intake valves slowly collect baked-on carbon from crankcase vapours.
Signs Your Volkswagen Needs a Cleaning
Cold-start misfires that smooth out once the engine warms up
A shaky idle at traffic lights
Misfire codes, often P0300 to P0304, or a flashing check-engine light
Flat spots when accelerating, especially on a GTI or Golf R
Which Volkswagens Are Most Affected
Older 2.0 TSI and 1.8 TSI engines, common in Mk6-era Golfs, GTIs, Jettas and CCs, are particularly prone to heavy build-up. Later engines can still collect carbon at higher mileage, so it is worth checking on any high-mileage TSI with the symptoms above.
How We Clean VW Valves
We remove the intake manifold, close each cylinder’s valves and walnut blast the ports, then vacuum out the media, inspect every port and refit the intake.
