These guys saved us close to $20k, we took our golf r to owasco to diagnose a knocking noise that developed after an oil change, I paid $389 for diagnostic and they told me it needed an engine. When I asked them what was wrong they couldnt verify if the knock was in the engine or elsewhere, they quoted me over 18K for a short block replacement and said it might not solve the issue and if it doesn’t then it needs more diagnosis. I googled a few shops around here to tow the car to and called for engine quotes all of which were around 15-18k for the entire engine for something used, one shop quoted me 12k for a used engine, after a few more calls I found parts plug. I called and one of the guys asked me a few questions about the car and mileage and spent probably 15-20 minutes on the phone with me and he said it doesnt need an engine and recommended I replace my camshaft magnets, they quoted me about 360 before tax for oem parts. I was a bit hesitant because of the huge price difference between what vw told me and what the other shops quoted me for the engine and what these guys told me but I figured it was worth a shot. They booked me in for later that week and when I got the call saying it was done they told me the problem was gone. I waited a while to leave a review because I didn’t know if they just did a bandaid fix or if the problem was actually solved but its been about 8 months and still no issues, the car has about 160k on it now and all is well. These guys saved me so much money. Thank you everyone at parts plug!

Had a great experience at Parts Plug. I reached out via email to inquire about walnut blasting intake carbon cleaning, they were quick to respond to all my questions, and book me in for an appointment. After they completed my intake carbon cleaning, I no longer experience misfires during cold starts or rough idling. I also noticed that the car is running overall a lot smoother now, and quicker throttle response. Intake carbon cleaning is pricey but for the amount of time it takes to complete I think the price is fair and worth it, felt like the car got a second life and runs like new. Highly recommend Parts Plug to anyone thinking about intake carbon cleaning!
